English Oak, Common Oak

A majestic tree with wide spreading crown on a sturdy trunk with a dark grey fissured trunk that adds to the trees majesty. It can grow to 80 ft and has a very long life spans, making them a favourite in English Gardens and Parks and indeed in may Temperate Gardens around the world.

Full sun to lightly shaded. Protect from frost.


Keep moist not wet. Water regularly during growing season.


Every two weeks during summer and growing season.

Leaf and Branch Pruning:

Trim leafs frequently during growing season. Cut back to 1 to 2 leafs remaining on new stem.

Re-potting & Growing Medium:

Yearly when plant is young and less than 10 years old. Thereafter every 2-3 years as required. Repot early spring just as bud growth starts to show. Oaks don't like being moved when dormant, so its better to repot as new growth starts. Use basic soil mix. 60% soil, 20% peat, 20% sand.


Late spring and summer.
